This scenario applies for connecting Blusound Node 2i streamer to 1 of zone. Image is the rear of NAD CI980. I crop 1 of 4 zones for my explanation. In every zone, there is a LOCAL / GLOBAL switch. If you have 1 streamer (source) and wish to playback for all zones then set to Zone 1 to GLOBAL. If zone 2,3 & 4 are set to GLOBAL too, then it will playback from streamer. Zone 2,3 & 4 will follow the streamer connected to GLOBAL. If all zones are set to GLOBAL and you would like to adjust volume, then you need to adjust it manually and the volume control (gain adjust) is at the back of the amplifier. Unfortunately, there is also no remote controller. However, if zone 3 & 4 are set to LOCAL then those 2 zones will be silent. This is because Zone 3 & 4 does not has its local streamer while Zone 1 & 2 continue to output sound from streamer. Again, volume adjustments are manual and individual. Why is NAD CI980 so complicated to use? This is because it's designed to work seamlessly with NAD CI580 V2. NAD CI580 V2 is a BluOS equipped music player with 4 zones. With this you can now control volume from BluOS app. So, with NAD CI580 V2, you can control volume and playback for all zones individually or grouping them using your phone.
